Bagpipes,  Drums and/or Highland Dance? 

Kids can learn to play the bagpipes or snare, tenor or bass drum and/or to Highland Dance in the Colorado Youth Pipe Band.  There is no experience necessary and the first four lessons are free!

Bagpiping

New pipers begin with lessons on a practice chanter (similar to a recorder) and gradually work their way up to full pipes.

 

New pipers start with a 30 minute to one-hour lesson between 6:00 - 8:00pm on Monday nights. In these lessons, students either meet with an instructor privately or `students of similar ability are grouped together. Pipers in the performance band meet between 7:00 - 8:00pm on Monday nights. 

 

Pipers can also participate in Highland Dance lessons at no additional cost.

Drumming

Drum students can learn to play snare, tenor, or bass drum.  New drummers begin with lessons on drum pads and gradually work their way up to full drums. 

 

New drummers start with 30 to 60 minute lessons between 6:00 - 7:00pm on Monday nights. In these lessons, students either meet with an instructor privately or students of similar ability are grouped together. Drummers in the performance band meet between 7:00 - 8:00pm on Monday nights. 

 

Drummers can also participate in Highland Dance lessons at no additional cost.

Highland Dance

Kids as young as four can begin Highland dance lessons and can begin performing and competing almost immediately. Dancers meet between 6-7pm on Monday nights. 

 

Dancers can also participate in bagpiping or drumming lessons at no additional cost.
